HEAT TREATMENTS

Ultrasound
Ultrasound therapy is a non-invasive treatment in which sound waves are used to penetrate soft tissues thereby increasing the blood flow. This improvement in circulation can help relieve pain and promote tissue healing.
It is particularly useful for arthritic conditions, torn ligaments and tendons and for sore muscles which are painful to touch.
The sound waves can penetrate deeply into joints and achieve faster healing.

Infrared
Infrared therapy uses infrared “light” which applies heat to a depth of several centimetres. It can be used to get heat to damaged or injured muscles, bones and joints and also arthritic joints. This can help with pain relief, reduction of muscle tension, relaxation and improved circulation.

Wax bath
Small amounts of molten paraffin wax are poured onto the relevant areas and covered with foil and cloth to keep the heat in and allow it to penetrate into joints and muscles with the added benefit of softening the skin.
